Ty Segall has for ten years been crafting a raft of excellent releases, mining psych rock and morphing it into his own genre. His latest release, Freedom’s Goblin is chock full of nuggets that will have you grinning from ear to ear. It’s a triumphant thumbs up from Pimpod HQ for his fuzz laden cover of Hot Chocolate’s Every 1’s A Winner. As well, the return of Merpire, who moved from Sydney to Melbourne after a huge 2017, her latest Hauntways is a catchy slice of synth pop. Plus Welsh label Cae Gwyn celebrate ten years of fantastic releases.

In this episode I reflect on the passing of the Hip Priest, Mark E Smith of the Fall. His legacy on music is enormous, with diverse acts as Pavement and LCD .Soundsystem citing him as a huge influence, a fact that didn’t in the slightest please him. The sound of the Fall bordered on chaos, with the cryptic crossword poetry of Smith likely leaving you with a wry smile or scratching your head. We features excellent new tracks from Hinds, Jay Som plus the stunning voices of The Young’Uns.
