In this episode I reflect on the passing of the Hip Priest, Mark E Smith of the Fall. His legacy on music is enormous, with diverse acts as Pavement and LCD .Soundsystem citing him as a huge influence, a fact that didn’t in the slightest please him. The sound of the Fall bordered on chaos, with the cryptic crossword poetry of Smith likely leaving you with a wry smile or scratching your head. We features excellent new tracks from Hinds, Jay Som plus the stunning voices of The Young’Uns.

It’s a focus on folk on this edition of 1/2/3/4. We take a sneak peak at the upcoming album from mandolin wizard Luke Plumb, the return of the soulful balladeer Grant Lee-Phillips and the powerful punch of Charles Jenkins’s release The Last Polaroid. As well, the stunning voice of Daisy Chapman, who has an incredibly powerful voice, which soars above her classical piano with the melodies supported by dramatic fiddle and swelling cello parts.
