Brighton, UK-based collective Moulettes, create a hard to pigeon hole sound that embraces prog, pop, alt-folk and rock and are visiting Australia for the first time performing at Port Fairy Folk Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival and a series of shows in between. I remember the first time I heard Gregory Alan Isakov. I’m a latecomer to the party, having discovered his album, The Weatherman when it was released, after reading about it on a blog. From the moment I heard Amsterdam, I was hooked. Not only is he a great songwriter, but he has a warm and engaging tone that draws you in. Rachel Sumner is best known as the guitarist and one of two primary songwriters and singers in the Boston band Twisted Pine, but her musical interests and curiosity extend beyond even the most progressive approach to traditional string-band instrumentation.
